You guys are all figuring this out and you are very right. "letting go" of chest voice as you ascend into mix can be the very reason that you don't have that "thick and full" sound you are looking for. finding the right balance of keeping the chest while allowing the narrow vowel and adding head voice mixture to balance your tones starting at E4-F#4 is the KEY to the big sounding mix everyone wants.

I think most of you would be surprised at how much you can lean in to the thick chesty sound without damaging yourself.

I plan on posting a video demonstration lesson of this concept soon along with many others. Also I'm considering designing a vocal program to pick up where singing success leaves off and help people "master the mix" and by that I mean the FULL bone-chilling, window shattering, heart pounding voice that we all want when we go above middle C.
