Skype vs. In-person lessons |

Do you guys think that skype lessons can match up to in-person lessons without a webcam? what about with a webcam?

In my opinion, skype can give a similar feeling (especially with a web cam) but it can not beat in-person lessons. I believe this is so because a lot of times
when I hear people on the phone or through skype, I get confused about loudness, volumes, and etc. But if you're in-person, there's no confusion about
it! Plus, it just feels better to have the person right in front of you listening carefully.

Basically, to be more specific with the question.....Should I go with an SLS in-person lesson? or an SS affiliated instructor over skype?

Of course I'm biased, but I know that all of the SS instructors are quality teachers. There are a lot more SLS teachers, and that leaves
unknowns. Skype wouldn't be a bad thing at all, especially with a teacher who knows how to teach.

try both!!
No one of us can tell you the way you learn, There are SLS teachers out there who are just as good as the SS people! The problem is that many of them don't bother posting online lessons like the SS people so it's hard to know before you try. I've tried a few and some sucked but now I've found one whos worth the money! Send an email and ask about their methods, If you get a good feeling go for it! I even ask the teachers if they are familiar with Brett Manning before, some may even suprise you and say that their huge fans of him and that they follow his teachings! Good luck

Skype lessons can be good, but I don't think they're as good as real in person lessons in large part due to the lack of being able to easily see what
is physically going on. Support is my biggest issue, and it's really hard to resolve that over Skype.

Well, while I don't think in person lessons are replaceable by skype/phone, a good enough teacher should be able to hearrr whats going on. Something like
support wouldn't be an issue for muse, because I believe neither SS or SLS deal with support. I've rarely found I actually need to see someone to help
them(heck, I tend to close my eyes to listen when I do). Confused brings up a good point though. Most computers and voice communications programs do some
amount of volume equalization, making louder sounds lower and lower sounds louder. Thats fine and all for speaking, but somewhat detrimental for lessons. But
its still not bad.
I personally would recommend an SS teacher over skype. For the reasons jake did. Yea, I'm biased too XD. But adambaritone brings up good arguments. My main concern is that you have to waste money on a not-so-helpful SLS instructor, when I think the SS affiliates are more llikely to help you. If you do what adam says though, emailing them beforehand, then I wouldn't be so worried =] Good Luck! |
