Hey all,
Most of you know I auditioned for American Idol on Sunday. The reason why I didn't get in is because I didn't want it, not because of politics or injustice.
One of the main driving forces in my life has been a desperate seeking for approval of others. Most of my creative and constructive writing bloomed out of this intense desire. I wanted you guys to like me and admire me, and you all did. Why? Because I truly wanted it.
I write this to inspire you guys to take responsibility for yourselves, not because I want your approval. I write this because of true love.
I want to inspire you guys to really question why it is that you guys want to become great singers. Is it because of love or because of fear of not being enough? This is a very important question to ask. If you are doing this for approval and you really want it, there is nothing wrong with that. You will get the approval you are looking for, if that is what you really want. But is it what you really want?
Either way, keep singing and keep improving on it. Nothing is more rewarding that knowing what you want and getting it. That is the meaning of reward.
ENJOY the journey. One day it will be over and you will wonder why you spent so many years in a confused frustrated state. That's fine too though.
Love you all,
Gabriel
