Posts: 33 (06/03/09 9:58 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Report Post	Hi all, I have been practicing the CD3 on the SS course for about 3 months now and still on it. My voice is still not connected but it is much more connected than when I started. I wanted to know if I should stay on CD3 for another month or until my voice starts connecting smoothly? I don't go into falsetto in my bridge area but it suddenly shifts from mix to head, chest to mix is smooth. On some days my voice seems to connect very smoothly but other days it connects but with a sudden shift and not smooth. Should I keep on practicing with CD3 until my voice is smoothed out or should I move onto CD4 now? Thanks

Remember to use that dopey sound: The dopey sound fixes a lot of issues that beginning singers have. CD 3 is very basic, CD 4 is where you should begin to grow. If you are still having issues with CD 3 though, you should fix those issues before you move on. It's how you are doing the exercises. It isn't anything that can't be fixed. I might not used the same terms as others here, but you'd probably understand anyways. There are two mixed voices, one that's strong, clean clearcut (heavy mixed). Then there's the other one, soft (light mixed). I believe the latter is referred to 'headvoice' here in this forum. The one you demonstrated in your Nays are the soft ones ie headvoice. That's good though, at least you're starting with a good foundation, that is, LETTING GO of chest. Soon, the next journey would be a totally different journey from the one you're on now, that is, to find your HEAVY mixed voice. I don't know what exercises SS teaches to get you guys there (or any other programs), but, after my finals (exams), I can record you guys (the guys still finding the heavy mixed voice) a clip, for those who are ready to move on to finding the heavy mixed voice, a trick that should work to get you guys there. I'll get this clip up by next week (remind if I have forgotten) - my microphone ships in then... and I finish my exams at the same time!! YAY!

Your NAYs went up to F#5 or something (I forgot), but IMO, it's not needed. Just do them up to Tenor C (C5) is fine.

Head voice is used when the sound doesn't have enough chest presence to be called a "mix."

Jake: I heard some of your clips and was amazed at how your voice sounds, your mix is very strong. How long did it take you to come this far? When did you start the SS course? Sikkony: You have a very nice voice, I listened to some of your clips and your voice is very balanced out. Since you did not study the SS course did you study SLS or something else?
