This is just from my personal experience (not all information may be accurate):

2. You really only need a web cam, a microphone, and headphones or speakers.

3. If you both have web cams and mics and headphones or speakers, you will both see and hear each other (this is how it should be and is normal)

4. It's not the "phone" or the "web cam" feature that makes a lesson effective, it's the teacher. Anyway, phone lesson and web cam lessons are almost the same except web cams give you a more personal feel by allowing the teacher and student to see each other. However, depending on what type of phone or microphone you have, sound quality and transmission will vary.

5. If you take phone lessons, you either need a digital voice recorder (go buy one) or you can just download a program called "Audacity" and let it record on you computer and do the phone lesson in front of your computer. I personally prefer a digital voice recorder (a decent one goes for about $25-$40).


Personally, if I ever get the house to myself, I plan on doing a web cam lesson with a 1) a logitech quick cam 2) a logitech microphone 3) an RCA digital voice recorder and 4) Audacity running too

but if I get kicked out, I'll just do a phone lesson in the car with 1) a Samsung cell phone 2) an RCA digital voice recorder
