Confused about SS

Okay so I have the SS program (as most of us on here do I believe). I have watched all the you tube videos and I have read all the newsletters and junk about singing from the singing success family. I have a serious confusion issue the program and what I hear from this site and other websites that teach a mix voice (even if SS is the best I know they don't have a monopoly on truth). what do you guys think of their new singles? brett and his wife finally released singles! when i heard, honestly, i thought it was cool. i like both of their voices... and both sound so damn commercial... I'm not really into the their style of music and stuff, tis pretty damn delicious... but i really hope brett wont give up teaching

So...how much do you like modulations and such in the middle of a verse or something? What do you think?

I eprsonally am somewhat tired of pradictible melodies. But i don`t say ALYWAYS do that because then better write modern music like....serial? well i don`t knwo if anybody has heard of that. Arnold Shomberg or whatever his name was.

Do you like hearing what you have expected or something new in the middle?

Hey guys I wanna know how many people on this board play live? (open mics, paid gigs..etc) I started playing open mics a few months ago and actually won one of the "best of open mics" here in Toronto and got to play my own full set which was awesome!! But the thing is that whenever I do an open mic I usually sort of collapse under pressure and mess up a few times....not that the audience can really tell its just that im a PERFECTIONIST when it comes to my voice and guitar. Finding Backing Tracks

I mentioned in an earlier thread that I'm attempting "Gethsemane (I only want to say)" currently, but I can't find any good sounding background/accompaniment tracks to sing with. There isn't an obvious disc sold on Amazon, and the only karaoke tracks I've been able to find sound terrible. Any advice on where to find a backing track or remove vocals from a normal one will be much appreciated!

Solo and Ensamble

So I am doing a song called 'On The Road To Mandalay' as a solo piece.
First round was just in my school, and they pretty much let any guy through.
Yesterday was regions, and somehow, even with a cold, I got a 1 and am through to state.
Has anyone ever done state competitions for singing? Any tips for calming nerves and just looking better overall?

Best Microphone for recording

Guys! I'm planning to buy a microphone, can you give a good microphone for recording? I tried to buy a wireless Shure mic, but it didn't work my for PC and I don't know why. Do I have to buy a microphone with a cord? Maybe the wireless reciever doesn't work on PCs.

Orchestra Arrangments

Hey all,

What would I need to know to be able to arrange my own orchestra music? Lets say I have all of these virtual instruments and the equipment, but lack the knowledge. What would I need to know to be able to make an orchestra track myself?

I'm thinking about taking some music classes in college. Obviously some music theory... Would there be anything else I would need?

Technique and style/interpretation

Hi guys.

I started thinking about technique and interpretation when I read another thread where Beyondtenor/Josh wondered why people seem to like "let go" singing and not realising it is wrong? This really put my thinking cap on, how should a singer relate to this?

The person with both great technique and great interpretation skills (Im not talking thrills, runs and effects here, I mean giving a glimpse of your heart to the audience) make for the absolute best...

You see I'm extremely confused with the name of the notes. Like I don't now what's high c, b flat- what does all this stuff mean?
