Does any1 here use m audio soundcard I have a problem running it on vista

Hi guys. It's like this.. I have got an m audio mobile pre usb soundcard which has always worked fine on XP.... now i recently bought a new laptop with Vista home.... and I just tried installing, but it's possible get the soundcard work with vista so it says its conencted but its not working, and I did try to disable the laptop soundcard.. but its not working at all... If any1 knows something about this or how to solve I would be grateful.. thanks

Finding your OWN voice? (not just imitating other singers)

I've always tried really hard to sound/sing like the people whose songs I was singing along to...ever since I was 12-13 years old.

Nowadays, I'm trying to write my own music and so want to find and use my own voice...but am now finding it kind of difficult to actually work out what this IS.

I've been told by people on other forums such as this that I've got a pretty good voice, but that a lot of my clips/songs sound like Kate Bush or Stevie Nicks or Karen...

Any good site to purchase studio equipment online from?

Hi guys, sorry for posting a similar thread about studio recording and stuff here again, but atleast I am doing it in the right forum now so maybe if someone could move the other thread here.

Anyway, I am looking for a website that sells studio microphones/soundcards/digitalkeyoards/softwares and such things.
I live in Sweden, so I don't mind getting it shipped from the U.S or so but if there is any place closer...

hey guys!

im wondering, how do you guys practice for a song? do you first make sure the technical aspect is correct by practicing to get the right pitch over and over then you focus on emotion or is it the other way around?

Confused about SS

So...how much do you like modulations and such in the middle of a verse or something? What do you think?

I eprsonally am somewhat tired of pradictible melodies. But i don`t say ALYWAYS do that because then better write modern music like....serial? well i don`t knwo if anybody has heard of that. Arnold Shomberg or whatever his name was.

Do you like hearing what you have expected or something new in the middle?

Hey guys I wanna know how many people on this board play live? (open mics, paid gigs..etc) I started playing open mics a few months ago and actually won one of the "best of open mics" here in Toronto and got to play my own full set which was awesome!! But the thing is that whenever I do an open mic I usually sort of collapse under pressure and mess up a few times....not that the audience can really tell its just that im a PERFECTIONIST when it comes to my voice and guitar. Finding Backing Tracks

I mentioned in an earlier thread that I'm attempting "Gethsemane (I only want to say)" currently, but I can't find any good sounding background/accompaniment tracks to sing with. There isn't an obvious disc sold on Amazon, and the only karaoke tracks I've been able to find sound terrible. Any advice on where to find a backing track or remove vocals from a normal one will be much appreciated!

Solo and Ensamble

So I am doing a song called 'On The Road To Mandalay' as a solo piece.
First round was just in my school, and they pretty much let any guy through.
Yesterday was regions, and somehow, even with a cold, I got a 1 and am through to state.
Has anyone ever done state competitions for singing? Any tips for calming nerves and just looking better overall?

Best Microphone for recording

Guys! I'm planning to buy a microphone, can you give a good microphone for recording? I tried to buy a wireless Shure mic, but it didn't work my for PC and I don't know why. Do I have to buy a microphone with a cord? Maybe the wireless reciever doesn't work on PCs.
